Cream butter and both sugars with hand mixer or stand mixer. Mix again after adding vanilla and egg.
Add flour, baking soda, and sea salt. Fold in pecans and chocolate chips. Do not overmix!
Scoop with large cookie scoop onto parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake until edges are golden brown.
Press the edges of warm cookies toward center to create a circle. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top.
