These crockpot honey garlic meatballs are sticky, sweet, and about as dump-and-go as dinner gets. Whisk honey, fresh garlic, coconut aminos, and a little sriracha right in the slow cooker, add a bag of frozen meatballs, and walk away for the afternoon. By dinner, the meatballs are tender and glazed and ready to pile over white rice. They're gluten-free and dairy-free too!

Meatballs glazed in dark sauce, topped with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, served over a bed of white rice in a patterned bowl.

This isn’t the only meatball dinner in Crock-tober. For pasta night, grab my Crockpot Marinara Meatballs and Orzo. For something creamy, my Tuscan Meatballs and Gnocchi is the one. And if you love this sauce but want chicken, try my Crockpot Honey Garlic Chicken and Rice.

Ingredients & Notes

  • Frozen meatballs - I used Amylu chicken meatballs, which are gluten-free and dairy-free. If you use another brand, check the label, because a lot of frozen meatballs are made with breadcrumbs.
  • Honey - Used for sweetness and stickiness!
  • Fresh garlic - Use four cloves, minced. Ground garlic will work in a pinch.
  • Coconut aminos - This is the salty, savory base. Soy sauce works too.
  • Sriracha, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and ginger - These add a little heat, a little tang, and a toasty finish.
  • Arrowroot starch - It thickens the sauce so it clings to every meatball.

Tips

  • Give it the afternoon. I was surprised by how tender the meatballs got after a few hours on low.
  • Cook it on LOW. I tested it this way and the meatballs were perfect. High works in a pinch but you'll want to stir the meatballs every now and then.
  • Add chili crunch oil to the rice for extra heat. The meatballs are kid-friendly but my husband likes to add chili crunch oil.
  • Finish with green onions and sesame seeds. That’s all it needs!
