Let's eat cake for breakfast! Think thick, creamy birthday cake overnight oats that taste like a slice of funfetti heaven—no candles required (but highly encouraged).

Have your cake and eat it too 🧁

Ever wished you could eat cake for breakfast and call it a healthy life choice? Same. These birthday cake overnight oats are here to make that dream a reality. They’re creamy, funfetti-filled, and taste like a party in a jar—but with way more staying power than an actual slice of cake.

A woman with long red hair, wearing a brown sweater and jeans, smiles while standing in a modern kitchen beside a counter with fresh lettuce and hibachi steak bowls. Marble backsplash and gold kitchen accents are visible in the background.

You’ll love that they’re secretly packed with protein, too. A combo of Greek yogurt and almond milk gives them a solid boost, and if you're really chasing those macros, go ahead and toss in some protein powder. They're perfect for busy mornings, quick desk breakfasts, or anytime you want to feel like you’ve got your life together and you're celebrating something (even if it's just Tuesday). Sound like your kind of breakfast?

A person sits cross-legged in a meditation pose with their hands resting on their knees, peacefully imagining delicious hibachi steak bowls. The simple black outline contrasts against a white background.

You will also love my peanut butter cups that taste like cake batter, funfetti vegan rice krispie treats, and overnight oats with extra protein!

Birthday Cake Overnight Oats Ingredients

  • Greek Yogurt – Go for plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt here. It adds a creamy texture and a solid protein boost that’ll keep you full and happy.
  • Almond Milk – This brings everything together and softens the oats to the perfect consistency. I recommend unsweetened almond milk, but any milk you love will work just fine.
  • Oats – The real MVP! Be sure to grab certified gluten-free oats if needed—I’m team  Bob’s Red Mill all the way.
  • Chia Seeds – These tiny gems soak up liquid and turn your oats into a thick, pudding-like dream. Plus, they bring some extra fiber and healthy fats to the mix.
  • Almond & Vanilla Extract – A splash of each gives these oats that classic, buttery cake batter flavor we all know and love.
  • Sprinkles – Technically optional, but... are they really? I use naturally colored sprinkles to keep the fun without the fake stuff.

A glass of overnight oats with chia seeds and colorful sprinkles sits on a light surface, next to a small plate filled with more rainbow sprinkles and scattered oats and sprinkles around.
Step 1 : Mix all of the ingredients together in a jar, then let the fridge do the rest of the work.
A glass filled with creamy overnight oats topped with colorful rainbow sprinkles, with a spoon inside and more sprinkles scattered on the table and in a bowl nearby.
Step 2 : Once the oats are thick, serve them up with your favorite toppings. I love a dollop of Greek yogurt and an extra dose of sprinkles.

How to Store

One of the best things about overnight oats? They’re total meal prep magic. You can make a batch (or two!) and stash them in the fridge for up to a week—so breakfast is always ready when you are. Just grab a jar, pop the lid, and go. No morning effort required, and no excuses to skip breakfast.
