You’ll never catch me serving fries without a sauce. Let’s be real, the dip makes or breaks the dish. Crispy sweet potato fries are no exception, and are even better with bold, flavor-packed sauces on the side. From hot honey mustard to maple cinnamon yogurt, here are FOUR can’t-miss dips that always steal the show.

Sweet Potato Fries 🤝 Dipping Sauces

I'm a sweet potato fry girlie through and through. If they’re on the menu, you better believe I’m subbing them in (yes, even with the upcharge). The real star of the show is always the sauce, in my opinion. I put together a full-on dipping sauce board to find the ultimate side dish match…and spoiler alert: I couldn’t pick just one. Each has its moment to shine. So without further ado, meet the four winning sauces!

A woman with long red hair, wearing a brown sweater and jeans, smiles while standing in a modern kitchen beside a counter with fresh lettuce and hibachi steak bowls. Marble backsplash and gold kitchen accents are visible in the background.

The fry sauce lineup:

We have a chipotle aioli which is my personal favorite and goes with practically anything and everything (especially fries). I like to make it with avocado oil mayo but regular mayo will work too!
Then there is the effortless yogurt ranch sauce which is great when chicken wings are involved in the snacking party too.
The hot honey mustard is a must for game day watching and is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy.
The maple cinnamon yogurt sauce is a game changer for sure. It's the sweetest dip of the bunch and absolutely heavenly with a warm sweet potato fry.

A person sits cross-legged in a meditation pose with their hands resting on their knees, peacefully imagining delicious hibachi steak bowls. The simple black outline contrasts against a white background.

If you're building a whole gameday spread, my greek nachos and cracker crusted chicken tenders are the two I make on repeat when people are coming over.

Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Mayonnaise - This is used in the aioli. Either avocado oil mayo or regular or light mayo will work.
  • Yogurt - I used a 5% fat plain greek yogurt for the sauces. Any type of yogurt will work, just make sure it's plain and unsweetened.
  • Ranch seasoning - Used to make the yogurt ranch sauce. I used the ranch seasoning from Trader Joes and the Hidden Valley Dip Mix works. If you have the spices to make your own blend, do that too!
  • Mustard - This is the base of the hot honey mustard. Dijon mustard or spicy brown mustard for a spicy savory kick will work.
  • Honey - Also used in the hot honey mustard. Swap this with agave or date nectar to make the sauce vegan.
  • Maple syrup - Pure maple syrup is best. I like the kind from Trader Joes or Costco.

How to Make and Serve The Dipping Sauces

Each dipping sauce is fairly straight forward to make. Simply mix all the dip ingredients in separate bowls well with a spoon.

When it comes to hosting, the serving platter is very important. The good news is it doesn't have to be fancy! I used a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper for easy clean up. Place the bowls on your platter then fill in the empty spaces with the warm sweet potato fries and dig in!

As with most finger food, I highly recommend having some small plates and napkins off to the side for guest to use.
