Ingredients and Substitutions
Base ingredients
- Greek yogurt - this is the secret to super creamy popsicles. I like to use 5% fat which makes them even creamier but 2% or 0% will work too.
- Maple syrup - this is used to sweeten the mixture. Swap with honey or agave if needed.
- Protein powder - this is optional but will increase the protein in each popsicle if you choose to add it. I like this brand of protein powder.

How to Make Protein Popsicles
You will need a popsicle mold and sticks.
Step 1 : Prepare each flavor of popsicle. In separate bowls, mix together your popsicle flavors. You can also use the same bowl and wash it clean after each flavor.
Step 2 : Fill up the popsicle molds. Use a spoon to fill up the popsicle molds with the yogurt mixture.
Step 3 : Add the popsicle sticks. Place the top on the popsicle mold and push a stick into each one. Transfer the mold to the freeze for at least 5 hours to set.
Step 4 : Enjoy! Once set, remove the popsicles from the mold and enjoy!
How to Store
For left over popsicles, store in the mold in the freezer for up to a month. You can also remove them from the mold and store in an airtight container or bag.
Expert Tips
- Mix the ingredients really well. If using protein powder, make sure no clumps remain.
- Taste test the yogurt mixture before freezing to make sure it's to your liking.
- Allow at least 5 hours to freeze, anything less and the popsicles will be too soft.
Frequently Asked Questions
It's probably the protein powder you used. I like a subtle powder that doesn't have a chalky aftertaste. If you're worried about your popsicles tasting like protein powder, use half as much as directed.
Your mold may not be airtight which can cause ice to develop on the popsicle. I typically let them thaw for a minute or two and the ice melts right off.
