If you’ve got a few slices of day-old bread sitting on the counter, this easy sourdough French toast recipe is exactly what to make. I whisk together almond milk, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and a splash of maple syrup for a warm-spiced custard that soaks in beautifully without feeling heavy. After a quick sear in a hot skillet, the edges turn golden and lightly crisp while the center stays soft and custardy.

A plate with a slice of French toast topped with whipped cream and sliced strawberries. A fork rests on the plate with a bite of toast. A glass of orange juice, a strawberry, and a bowl of cinnamon are nearby.

Brunch Goals!

I can’t be the only one who ends up with a slightly stale loaf of sourdough every now and then. The good news is older bread makes the best sourdough french toast! It soaks up a simple almond milk and egg mixture without falling apart, then turns golden and toasty in a hot skillet.

A woman with long red hair, wearing a brown sweater and jeans, smiles while standing in a modern kitchen beside a counter with fresh lettuce and hibachi steak bowls. Marble backsplash and gold kitchen accents are visible in the background.

This has easily become my favorite slow-morning ritual. I pile it high with greek yogurt, fresh fruit, and an extra drizzle of maple syrup. Saturday morning done right!

A person sits cross-legged in a meditation pose with their hands resting on their knees, peacefully imagining delicious hibachi steak bowls. The simple black outline contrasts against a white background.

Brunch people, this one’s for you. Pair this with my chewy gluten free bagels if you’re craving something savory, or go full sweet with my moist double chocolate banana muffins which are always a crowd favorite.
